Littlewoods - Lacoste

Make a Racquet this Summer! This summer sees a packed sports calendar with the Olympics, the European Football Championships and Wimbledon all taking centre stage. For those tennis fans whose appetite has been whetted by the recent French Open, what better way to celebrate the summer than by throwing a Wimbledon-themed party? The men and women’s finals are being held over the weekend of the 7th and 8th of July which is the perfect time to throw a fashion, food and games party for your friends and family. Dress code At Wimbledon, tennis and fashion have always gone hand-in-hand. Players have long attracted as much attention for their outfits as for their backhands so why not get into the swing of things and invite your guests to come along wearing on-court inspired outfits. Sporty Lacoste is one of the most iconic clothing labels in the world and offers a huge range that will have you covered from head to toe, from caps and shorts to trainers and fragrances. Remember to keep it subtle – white, green and purple are the tournaments trademark colours.

A BBQ will keep the Dads busy in between sets so think marinated chicken drumsticks and homemade hamburgers. If you have any bunting and Union Jack plates and cups left over from the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations then these will come in handy too. Games and activities If the British weather decides to behave itself then providing some outdoor games will add another dimension to your party. For most if us, throwing our own tennis tournament probably isn’t an option (unless you’re Elton John) but a table tennis championship would work just as well and probably be more fun! If you can’t get hold of a table tennis table then why not ask Mum and Dad to dig out the Swing Ball from the garden shed? It’s guaranteed to keep guests of all ages entertained, but be warned – this game is extremely addictive and gets very competitive. If rain does stop play then simply grab the kid’s Wii game console. There are some great tennis games on the Wii (complete with mini plastic tennis racquets) and you’ll also get a great workout!
